The Gift Card module on the Quickvee POS Android app lets cashiers issue new gift cards to customers and accept gift cards as a payment method on regular sales. Gift cards are stored as a balance tied to a unique card number (printed on the physical card and barcode-scannable).
Access path: Register → enter amount → tap Issue Gift Card → Load Gift Card modal
Step 1 — Enter the amount on the register
-
Tap the numeric keypad to enter the gift card load amount (e.g. tap
1,0,0for$100.00). The amount displays in the center of the register at$100.00. -
Do not select a category or product — the amount alone is enough for gift card issuance.
Always enter the amount before tapping Issue Gift Card. If the amount is $0.00 when Issue Gift Card is tapped, the system rejects the action — gift card amount must be greater than zero.

Once payment is collected, the gift card is active and ready to use at any of the merchant's locations.

Important notes
A gift card can be paid for using any non-EBT method. EBT Cash and EBT Food cannot be used to purchase gift cards — federal SNAP rules prohibit it.
A customer does not need to be attached to issue a gift card. Walk-in customers can buy gift cards. To track gift card activity per customer, attach the customer record to the sale before issuing.
The card number is the unique identifier. Two gift cards with the same number cannot exist — the system blocks duplicates at issuance.
Gift card issuance is excluded from Product Profitability reports. Gift card sales are not treated as merchandise — they appear in the Gift Card report instead.
Loyalty points are not earned on gift card purchases. When a customer buys a gift card, no loyalty points are credited for that line item.
Gift card sales appear on the receipt with the card number and dollar value. The receipt also shows the new balance after the transaction.
Validation is enforced. A gift card cannot be issued for $0.00 — the amount must be greater than zero.
Sort and search. The Gift Card management screen on the web supports sorting by issue date, balance, and card number, and searching by card number.
Coupons and discounts do not apply to gift card line items. A coupon, BOGO, or Mix & Match deal cannot reduce the price of a gift card being issued — the gift card sells at face value.
Gift card balance never goes negative. The system caps redemption at the actual balance.
